CLEVER USE OF SPACE.   ROOM FOR EVERYDAY LIFE.
Find space in the everyday

An awkward corner.
A useful part of home.

Shoes by the door. Coats without a cupboard. Household items tucked out of reach. Under stairs storage starts with what you need to put away, then considers how the space can work harder.

Neart Construction offers under stairs storage across Cardiff and South Wales. Share photographs, approximate dimensions and your priorities with Greg so we can discuss a layout and the information needed for a quote.

Storage that fits
your routine.

The slope, depth and access around your staircase guide what is practical. These are starting points for your project conversation.

01 / PULL-OUT STORAGE

Bring the contents to you.

Discuss pull-out sections for shoes and everyday items. Consider the space needed to open them fully and the size and weight of what they will hold.

02 / FITTED CUPBOARDS

Give larger items a place.

Explore cupboards for coats, cleaning equipment or household storage. The taller part of the space may suit items that need more height.

03 / SHELVES & MIXED LAYOUTS

Keep what matters within reach.

Consider open shelves, enclosed storage or a mix of both. Balance display space with practical access to the deeper parts of the area.

Plan around the real space

A good fit starts
with the details.

Think beyond the cupboard front. The interior and the space around it need to work together.

01 / WHAT GOES INSIDE

Start with your storage list.

Measure bulky items and think about what you use most often. Coat length, shoe sizes and cleaning equipment can help shape the internal layout.

02 / OPENING SPACE

Allow room to use it.

Share photographs of the hallway as well as the staircase. Door swings, pull-outs and nearby entrances need consideration alongside the storage itself.

03 / EXISTING SERVICES

Keep important access in mind.

Flag meters, electrical equipment, pipework and access panels already beneath the stairs. Their requirements need consideration before enclosing or altering the space.

04 / FRONTS & FINISHES

Make it part of the room.

Discuss door style, handles, materials and colour. Consider how the unit meets existing skirting, walls and the staircase, and which finishing work is included.

Know the starting point

Work with the stairs.
Understand what’s there.

Photographs help start the discussion, but don’t confirm what can be removed or enclosed.

Tell us whether the area is open, already fitted out or covered by an existing partition. Share any drawings or records of previous work.

Any proposed changes affecting the staircase, existing construction or services need appropriate consideration before the storage layout is agreed. An attractive front should still leave the space practical to use and maintain.

People behind your project

From everyday needs
to fitting details.

Greg handles enquiries and quoting, Ben manages the project, and Jos coordinates the team. Discuss choices, updates and any proposed changes before work starts.

Share the space

Send photographs, approximate dimensions, your postcode and a list of what you want to store.

02

Explore the layout

Discuss cupboard divisions, shelves, pull-outs and room to open them.

03

Agree the scope

Clarify materials, fittings, preparation and finishing work for the quote.

04

Coordinate the fitting

Consider access, installation and any related trade or decorating work together.

Understanding the quote

What shapes
the cost?

Available width alone doesn’t describe the job. The layout, fittings and existing condition all help define the work involved.

Discuss your ideas ↗

Size & configuration

The slope, depth, number of sections and proposed internal layout affect the scope.

Doors, drawers & hardware

Hinged doors, pull-outs, runners and handles help define the specification.

Materials & finishing

Surface finishes, colour choices and decorating should be discussed when agreeing what is included.

Preparation & existing features

Removal of old fittings, condition of surrounding surfaces and existing services need consideration.

For a useful first conversation

Send a wide photograph, close-ups, approximate width, height and depth, and a list of storage priorities. Include any design references, budget range and preferred dates.

Your questions

Before we fit.

How much storage can I gain?

That depends on the slope, depth, existing features and layout. Share photographs and dimensions, then discuss how the space could accommodate the things you want to store.

Can I have pull-out shoe storage?

Discuss the proposed contents, available depth and clearance in front of the unit. The layout and appropriate fittings need to be considered for the space.

Can the drawers be soft-closing?

Tell Greg this is a priority. Discuss the chosen hardware, intended contents and what is included in the quote rather than assuming every fitting has the same features.

Can you include hanging space for coats?

Share the types and lengths of clothing you want to store. The height available beneath the stairs helps determine where hanging space might fit.

What if there are meters or pipes underneath?

Flag them at the start and provide photographs. Access and other requirements need to be considered before the layout is agreed; don’t assume equipment can be enclosed or moved.

Can you replace an existing cupboard?

Tell us what you want to retain or remove and share photographs. Existing construction, condition and services need consideration before the proposed work is defined.

Can the finish match my hallway?

Share references and photographs of existing joinery. Discuss door profiles, handles, colour and available materials, including whether painting or decorating is included.

How long will installation take?

The programme depends on the layout, materials, preparation and finishing work. Share your preferred dates so the scope and supply arrangements can be discussed together.

Where do you work?

We cover Cardiff, Penarth, Barry, Dinas Powys, Caerphilly, Newport, Cwmbran, Blackwood, Pontypridd, Llantrisant, Cowbridge and Bridgend. Share your postcode when you get in touch.
